it's a beautiful thing when you can lie in bed and say your prayers at night and share them in someone else's arms.
when i was little i said my prayers every night before i fell asleep. as i got older, it lessened. and i’m still sad about that. but the nights that i always remember to are the ones where i’m going through hard times.. and i just need to find the strength somewhere else.
sometimes.. people come to you for strength. and you say what you think is right.. you do what you think will help. but regardless, you can’t stop bad things from happening to the people you love, as much as it hurts to see them hurt. one of the main things i wanted to do while being there for that person? say our prayers at night, lying together in bed.
prayers are a deeply private thing. we may not tell our life stories, but it’s still an intimate conversation with God. when you have enough trust in someone else to actually SHARE that with them.. that’s something special.
so there we were.. lights off and ready for bed. we made the sign of the cross.. said the our father, hail mary, and glory be. then held hands and took turns praying out loud to God and each other. with eyes closed and tears coming down.. we asked God for help and for strength. we thanked Him for our blessings, including each other. and everything we said, we prayed it together.
and out of all the prayers i’ve ever said in my life, i honestly think that God really and truly heard us that night.
Why cheat? Why make someone commit for you when you can’t commit to them? Why be in a relationship when you’re gonna act like you’re single? Why blame it on ”Shit Happens” when you didn’t prevent it from not happening & helped caused it to happen? Why be with someone who’s ready to settle when you’re not ready, yourself? Why have more than one person, when you were the only person the other person needed?
